Tia Mowry’s Struggle for Personal Style

After their smash hit series Sister, Sister ended it’s run on the teen-centric (and now defunct) WB Network in 1999, we didn’t think we’d ever see star twin sisters Tia and Tamera Mowry back in the Hollywood spotlight. Sure, we adored the sitcom about two adopted-then-reunited-twins, and tuned in every single week with our own sisters to see what wacky antics those two crazy girls were up to next. We were sad to see the show end, but happy to leave it where it belonged – squarely in the 1990s.

Well, we were silly to think these two stylish siblings wouldn’t wind up back on television, because they’re starring in the Style Network’s new reality series, Tia and Tamera Take Two, and thankfully, this time around, their fashion sense has matured right along with them. In fact, Tia is enjoying a gig as guest editor on StyleBistro.com, a veritable go-to Bible for fashionistas, and she’s opening up to the site about what it was like to navigate through twindom, to finally discover her own personal sense of fashion, apart from her equally famous (and identical!) sis.

Tia, who’s currently pregnant, made a super stylish appearance at the Fourth Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards back in February, and positively wowed in a black satin wrap column dress by Isabella Oliver. After that, we knew to listen up and take note of this seriously hot mama, especially when it comes to personal style.

Even though she’s fashionably fierce now, Tia admits that she didn’t always have a firm grasp on her own personal style, and that she and Tamera even dressed alike until their high school years. She says, “As a twin, you’re always fighting for your own persona. I remember the first day of ninth grade, walking up the stairs to school and we were dressed alike!” It wasn’t until traveling abroad in college that Tia really discovered what style could do. She bought her first true designer duds in Italy and has been smitten with fashion ever since.

We’re certainly impressed with how far both ladies have come – we don’t see a headband or acid-washed jean in sight! What do you think of Tia’s glamorous reemergence? Have you been tuning in to watch her reality show on Style?
