The veritable celebrity fashion show that is the Cannes Film Festival is finally here – and so far, our favorite stars have really delivered on the style front. We can’t vouch for the plethora of questionable independent films, but we can declare with certainty that the clothes have been a big hit. Though the massive, star-studded festival runs until May 22nd, we’ve already seen a few amazing ensembles that we’re planning to incorporate into our own summer wardrobes. Fortunately, our first fashionable winner at the festival arrived on opening day. Uma Thurman stepped onto the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival Jury Photocall in a white hot look straight off the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2011 runway – and we’re predicting she’ll start a major trend with her amazing embroidered frock.

This year, Uma is sitting on the Cannes Jury alongside Jude Law and Robert De Niro, and participating in choosing which films receive certain accolades throughout the duration of the festival. A movie veteran, Uma seems like the perfect feminine fit for the “old boys club” jury – and we hope she’ll choose films that prominently feature strong, independent – and of course, fashionable – women. Judging by what she wore to the photocall on May 11th, we have no doubt she’ll do exactly that.

Uma left her fitted, embroidered Dolce dress completely unaltered from its runway version – and since she has a model figure, the shape was perfection on her. We’re especially loving the knee-length hemline and demure elbow-length sleeves, and hope more women in Hollywood adopt the “less is more” mentality when it comes to showing so much skin.
The flattering scoop neckline on Uma’s white frock is a great way to showcase sun kissed skin – just remember to pull your hair off your face if you’re going for a similar look. Ms. Thurman completed her look with delicate silver Jimmy Choo sandals – and we’re completely smitten with her airy, pale color palate. Do you love this ensemble as much as we do? Would you dare to wear white like Uma?
