Vanessa Hudgens gives her own premiere at the premiere of Captain America
As serious style junkies, we’ve had an eye on young Vanessa Hudgens since she starred as flirty Gabriella Montez in Disney’s smash hit High School Musical franchise. Even when she was an adorable teenager, we could tell she had a fierce fashionista inside, waiting to blossom. Now that she’s reached the ripe age of 22, and has several New York Fashion Week experiences under her designer belt, she’s starting to pull out all her stylish stops. We normally love what Vanessa wears on the red carpet, because she has a knack for balancing sexy silhouettes with her signature Disney charm, and her ensembles usually walk a fashionably fine line between sultriness and age appropriateness. We were anticipating her arrival at the Los Angeles premiere of Captain America: The Last Avenger, held at El Capitan Theatre on Tuesday, July 19th – but we certainly weren’t expecting her major hair makeover!

Vanessa stepped onto the carpet in an amazing, 1970s-inspired, embellished chiffon minidress by Farah Kahn, and sky-high ankle strap suede wedges in a matching camel hue. Her amazing pair of Giuseppe Zanotti platforms is giving us a serious case of shoe envy, and making her toned and tanned gams look a mile long.
If you’re digging Vanessa’s vintage-style dress as much as we are, you’ll be happy to know that copying the look might be easier than you think. The long-sleeved, deep v-neck silhouette is everywhere right now thanks to our nation-wide heat wave, and you might even be able to find a similar shape in your local swim or surf shop! Just make sure your new frock isn’t too sheer to avoid any unsightly wardrobe malfunctions.
Vanessa’s dress and shoes were killer, but we can’t stop talking about her freshly cropped ‘do! We’re so used to seeing her with long, thick, raven locks, that we initially thought her short hairstyle was a wig for her new movie, Gimme Shelter, in which she portrays a struggling teen who finds herself pregnant and homeless. It sounds like a challenging role, but at least Vanessa pulls off the look with ease!
