Anne Hathaway Attends Valentino Haute Couture Show During Fashion Week
Around here, we’re huge fans of Anne Hathaway and her relatable, casual style. After all, she is the veritable queen of makeover movies, following stints as a nerd-turned-princess in Disney’s The Princess Diaries, and then a bookworm-turned fashionista in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada. Even though she looks amazing in jeans and t-shirts, Anne officially cemented her place in style history when she donned a record seven different ensembles to host the 2011 Academy Awards, and we’ve loved watching her glamorous transformation.
Since she’s now an official Hollywood style maker, we weren’t surprised to see her in Paris for Couture Fashion week, and she certainly dressed the part for the Valentino Couture show on Wednesday, July 6th. She arrived wearing a long black gown with a sheer overlay, sheer hose and matching patent leather black pumps. Anne’s look might have been too heavy for July, had she not topped her ensemble with an amazing pair of sunglasses from Versace’s summer collection and a bold, red-stained pout. Wearing sheer hose in July is certainly a style risk, but we think Anne looked stylish and confident. Her sheer black dress was light and airy, and the feather-weight chiffon skirt provided the perfect balance for her serious stockings. If Anne’s dress had been heavy or featured long sleeves, than stockings would have been a serious crime against fashion.
If you love your flattering hose, and can’t bear the thought of ditching them until winter, try a look like Anne’s, and pair them with frothy dresses and skirts this summer. You’ll have plenty of confidence showing your legs, and you’ll stay cool and relaxed all night. Make sure you complete your ensemble with some serious shades and an Anne-inspired red or dark pink lip color to add a little attitude to an otherwise demure look.
