Zoe Saldana has been circulating through the young Hollywood acting scene for years, but only recently hit the A-list for her knockout role in the James Cameron directed sci-fi flick, “Avatar.” With her newly acquired star status, the young actress has also seemed to hire herself a great stylist – because she’s been looking better and better at red carpet events ever since. In her teen flick days, Zoe was known for her wild and wacky fashion looks. After all, she did star in “Drumline” and “Center Stage” – two films geared towards the 14-and-under set. Her fluffy, frilly, and sometimes downright frumpy style had critics panning her outfits almost as much as her films!
But these days, Zoe steps out in sophisticated style – even setting trends for the rest of us to mimic! In fact, she recently opted for a top and skirt combination rather than a gown for the recent Los Angeles premiere of her twisted comedy/thriller, “Burning Palms,” at Arclight Hollywood. Normally, we scoff at two-piece red carpet looks and prefer the tried and true standby of an actual dress, but check out how chic Zoe looks in her head-to-toe Yves Saint Laurent ensemble! Prepare to be tempted to try your own two-piece look at your next formal event!
For starters, the black-and-beige color palate of this look is dead on-trend for spring. Neutrals are everywhere, and the best way to ground a khaki or flesh toned piece is with basic black. Zoe’s YSL halter-top is fitted so perfectly to her body, it looks like it was made specifically for her. And that’s exactly the balance she needed for the ruffles on her YSL skirt. Together, the combo looks almost like a dress – and we had to do a double take to make sure it was, in fact, two pieces.
Zoe rounds out her flawless look with black strappy YSL heels – a perfect prelude to spring and summer in L.A., and a sexy nude lip. Her hair is effortlessly loose, and her minimal accessories complimented her patterned skirt. We’re totally in love with this combo, but what do you think?
