Natasha Bedingfield’s Color Block Dress on the Today Show

New Picture Natasha Bedingfields Color Block Dress on the Today Show

It seems like 2010 has been the year of the trends. The fashion industry moves at warp speed and before we laypeople can even wrap our minds around a faux fur vest, leopard print booties and lace tights are already making their way down the fashion pipeline. Unfortunately, most girls don’t have the budget or the time to dedicate towards each rapidly changing fad – and instead choose to invest in a few classic, key pieces each season that will be wearable for years to come.

Luckily, we have Hollywood to look towards when it comes to demonstrating the latest “it” shoe, fabric or handbag – and living vicariously through our favorite stars doesn’t cost us a penny! This month on the Today Show, one of our favorite cutie crooners from across the pond, Natasha Bedingfield, belted out a few of her latest hits donning some of the hottest trends of year – color blocks and purple shoes. As usual, she looked gorgeous, but her look isn’t the easiest to pull off! Read on for tips on how to incorporate just a small amount of trendiness into your own wardrobe without busting your budget or (heaven forbid!) looking too over-the-top.

Natasha’s black and gray color block minidress was perfect for her rockin’ morning performance, but the color block trend can actually be super chic – even for the office. Like Natasha, choose neutrals like black, gray, ivory and chocolate brown to keep things sophisticated, but avoid too-high hemlines or risk veering dangerously close to 1980s territory! To dress up a color block dress or top, take a note from Ms. Bedingfield and don’t be shy about piling on simple gold or silver bangle bracelets. As long as each individual piece is thin and conservative, it’s almost impossible to wear too many!

Natasha’s shoes were also spot-on the current trend of candy-colored footwear. Although her grape-hued platform wedge ankle boots aren’t for the fashion faint of heart, you can certainly borrow a sliver of her style by opting for a more work-appropriate pair of demure heels in a fun color like red or berry. Like Natasha, with the right attitude and accessories, anyone can be rocker-chic on any budget!
