Fergie, the songstress best known for her work with the band The Black Eyed Peas, is also known for fashion and cosmetics. In fact, she has been one of the MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam Spokeswomen. More recently, as in a few days ago, she has been making a new statement with her cosmetics. While her work with MAC was for a charitable purpose, her more recent statement seems to be entirely fashion driven and it is unclear whether or not the critics like her choice.
The former Kids Incorporated star was recently photographed with a rather unusual manicure. Instead of the usual rounded or square-shaped fingernails, Fergie stepped out with pointed nails. She has certainly donned edgy, even shocking clothes and accessories before, but these “spiked” nails may take the cake. As the manicure was done in a nude tone, the nails seem to make Fergie’s hands look almost like claws. Some critics are saying that this look is fresh, fun and fashion forward. Others are saying that it is scary and that this is fashion victim material of the highest order. In fact, if Fergie isn’t careful when she shakes hands, her acquaintances may become victims of her fashion.
It is yet to be seen whether or not this is a trend that will take off. Perhaps the next big thing will be pointy press on nails. (Perhaps not.) It is most certainly a trend that will only be available to those who wear false nails. The reason for this is that natural nails are much more likely to crack, split, and break when they are shaped into this form. With acrylic nails or nails that are made of similar materials, however, such as silk and glass, this unusual talon shape is possible to achieve. With the right nail technician, that is.
