As if we needed more proof that Gwen Stefani was one of the most stylish mamas in Hollywood, we spotted her in a lust-worthy maxidress during a date with her boys on Sunday, June 4. Gwen and sons Zuma, 2 and Kingston, 5 took advantage of the gorgeous weather in San Marino, CA and strolled through Huntington Library’s Botanical Gardens, exploring new habitats and soaking up some sun. Of course, the ever-stylish Rossdale boys looked spot on-trend, wearing a pair of amazing leather motorcycle boots (Zuma) and a structured flannel button down (Kingston.) The boys looked adorable, but we can’t stop thinking about Gwen’s amazing printed Winter Kate maxidress and Prada sunglasses.
Maxidresses are a huge Summer 2011 trend, and for good reason. They’re a simple and stylish one-piece fashion powerhouse that can take you from the beach to cocktails or date night with a few accessory swaps. And for busy moms like Gwen, a maxi is a great way to get ready in seconds during the morning rush, when you have kids and a hubby to care for. On her day out with the kids, Gwen wore a tough denim jacket on top of her pretty floral frock. We love the juxtaposition of distressed denim over a summer sundress, and think a leather jacket would work well, too. This season, look for similar, budget-friendly styles bold and colorful prints to inject a tropical vibe into your wardrobe well into the fall.
Like any mother would, Gwen opted for a simple and practical pair of black flip-flops to chase after her bustling brood. We think thong sandals are the perfect finishing touch on such an airy look – just remember to keep toes pedicured throughout sandal season! Gwen’s tootsies were outfitted in a gorgeous raspberry lacquer, which was a perfect compliment to the jolts of pink in her ensemble. Create a similar look at home with your favorite bold hue, and keep that pedi pretty with an anti-chip topcoat.
