Lil Wayne’s Clothing Lines: MIA?

Mid 2007, Lil Wayne boasted he would be bringing his own apparel lines to the streets. He’s mentioned Nelly as being a career influence, who has his own very successful line “Apple Bottoms”, a women’s streetwear line competing with Kimora Lee Simmons’ Baby Phat and Jay-Z’s recently sold Rocawear.

Lil Wayne clothing would consist of two brands:”Double U”, a womenswear line, and “Foreign Money”, an urban streetwear collection for men. They were expected to be an extension of the rapper’s rockstar / streetwear style.

Over 6 months later and we’re still waiting for the relaunch of these two brands. In the meantime, Lil Wayne was featured in Ed Hardy Clothing ads in early 2008, which appeals to the same segmentation of urban streetwear fans.

The Cash Money rapper is the hottest he’s ever been with his new album at the top of the charts. We guess we can forgive him for falling behind on his extracurricular activities like clothing design.
