Must Buy Book: The One Hundred by Nina Garcia
The chic judge from Project Runway, Nina Garcia, held a book signing hosted by Saks Fifth Avenue, on Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Her newest book, titled “The One Hundred” contains all the fashion lowdown that enables women to be able to put together timeless looks. We’re not anti-trend, but we love the book as it’s sort of a breather after all the animal prints, patent leather and loud colors. Nina Garcia, the new fashion director of Marie Claire (yep, no more Elle there, people!) told reporters what inspired her to write the book:
“The inspiration was really moving from my apartment. We were going to be out of our apartment for about eight months and I was pregnant with my son, and I was trying to figure out, what am I going to take? I was already changing sizes, I was changing apartments, and I noticed that a lot of the things I took were the things I always relied on. No matter what had happened or what city I was in, it was always the white shirt, the jacket, the classic, timeless pieces. That’s really the idea came up. What about a book that spelled out what are all those timeless, classic pieces that every woman should consider having. I’m not saying every woman has to have one hundred pieces, because I wanted to keep it general so that different tastes could appreciate it.”
Couldn’t agree more on keeping things general. Simple, classy things can be lifesavers when we need them.
We’re just curious whether Nina Garcia is Michelle O’s secret fashion advisor!
