Iman’s Global Chic Blings

Hey people! Remember her?

When everybody is raving about Chanel Iman, we choose to talk about another Iman in the fashion world that is known for being one of the first breed of supermodels on earth.  Iman of course has turned into a celebrity designer, and she’s got her own jewelry line: Iman’s Global Chic.  That’s right, the line that was launched back in 2007 is still going strong and we just dig how Iman injects her own elegance into the blings.  And now, here they are, and please note:  they’re all under $100.

Whitney Port’s Clothing Line at Kitson

Another “The Hills” star joins the ranks of the celebrity designersWhitney Port’s line, named “Eve” is already up for grabs.  After Kitson cleaned out Lauren Conrad’s line from the shop a while back, they decided to launch Whitney’s line.  Whitney and her friend, Adrienne Baravetto co designed a line filled with sparkly party dresses.  Currently there are only two dresses up for sale at shopkitson.com and we figured you might want to take a look.

Black Sequin Ozark Dress for $495

Grey Encino Ruffle Collar Dress for $345

Now we didn’t say they come cheap.  And we are wondering how long the line will last at Kitson with all the less pricey competition.  Say… um, Heidi Montag’s?

Edun’s Enviro-glam Look

The image of wearing environmentally friendly fashion might come to some as ‘looking like a bag lady’.  Maybe it was true in the past, but fret no more because U2’s Bono has just the fashion label that is a friend to mother earth and a sister to fashionistas.  The brand Edun was launched back in 2005 by Bono and his wife Ali Hewson. The company works on a micro-level to help build the skill sets of factories where the clothes are produced. EDUN is currently produced in India, Peru, Tunisia, Kenya, Uganda, Lesotho, Mauritius and Madagascar.

As Ali Hewson stated:

Edun is not a charity. It ’s a project for social development aimed at Africa. I have four children and when I dress them I want to be sure that their clothes are not the result of other children being exploited…”

That’s just from the humanity side.  Edun clothings are also environmentally friendly as they are made from mostly cotton and fine silks from India.  They might be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for in the case of Edun. They hang well and are quality pieces. Here’s a couple of standout examples:

Edun Althea Top $215

Edun Ash Shift Dress $295

Edun Nocturne T-shirt $55

Edun Wraith Long Sleeve Shirt $66

If you’re thinking “What’s up with all the grays?” This is from their fall 2008 collection. This season’s trends definitely include “gray as the new black“. But aside from the monochromatic hue, we think we all agree that Edun is fabulous and hip.

Loves ‘em!

Chloe Sevigny’s Opening Ceremony For Men

After a somewhat lukewarm success on her Opening Ceremony line, celebrity designer Chloe Sevigny is still not stopping.  There’s a buzz that Ms. Sevigny will branch out to menswear.  That is right.  While her women’s line is demeaned to be rather ‘cute but weird’ by some fashion commentators, we are seriously curious about what she’ll dress the men with.

Sevigny’s statement on the buzz:

“Not only did I want to do something for the guys in my life, but a lot of my girlfriends prefer to wear men’s stuff…I think what they like about men’s clothes is the fit. So I don’t want to change that. It’ll be a new challenge.”

We imagine it would be a huge challenge as it’s probably gonna be hard dressing up men in leggings and retro-fabulous dresses like she did on her Opening Ceremony lookbook for women.  But as she stated above, the Opening Ceremony line for men will also have a women’s version which differs only in sizes and minor cuts.  Wow.  Now we are intrigued big time.

There’s no confirmation yet on when the line will drop, but we will update when we hear!

NKOTB Supports Cancer Breast Awareness Month

Ladies are not the ones who care about Breast cancer.  A group of kids -or should we say matured men, now- from the famed boyband New Kids On The Block are encouraging us to care and help in any way to find the cure. It turns out that Danny Wood’s mother battled breast cancer before she passed away, and this made Danny and the rest of the New Kids wanted to do something to honor her memory and benefit their fans.

People.com reported Danny’s statement:

“A lot of the women coming to the shows need to be aware of early detection.  They’re in that age from 25-35 where they need to get their first exams.  That was the problem for my mother.  By the time she found out, it was too late and I don’t want that to happen to anyone else when it could be prevented.”

New Kids on The Block support the cause and keeping the memory of Elizabeth Wood alive, they are selling a limited-edition NKOTB tanks, featuring the Breast Cancer Pink Ribbon.  Each are retailed for $35 and all proceeds will go to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The tanks are available for purchase here.
