Carrie Bradshaw’s Back! SJP in Halston Heritage

We aren’t too proud to admit that we’ve spent our fair share of late nights watching “Sex and the City” on cable, crying right along with Carrie as we watched romance after romance dissolve into a tricky, tainted mess. We’ve all been there, and everyone has their own Carrie stories to share with girlfriends over brunch. And that’s exactly why the smash-hit series – which made its debut on HBO in 1998 – continues to find new fans as young women age into the adult television genre. And thanks to syndicated programming and DVDs, we have a feeling Carrie and the girls will continue to serve as figurative burn salves for fans’ own nasty, painful breakups for generations.

The shows unbridled staying power will also continue to play a huge role in fashion and style for years to come. Thanks to costume designer Pat Field’s genius, there will always be young, city-bound fashionistas willing to mix high-end with low-end, masculine with feminine, and questionable with beautiful, to create unique Carrie-inspired outfits. But even though there’s many Bradshaw wannabe’s out there, there’s still only one Sarah Jessica Parker, and she continues to make our jaws drop everywhere from formal events to daily errands.

On Friday, March 18th, the fashion icon turned her daily school drop-off with son James Wilkie into her own personal fashion show, and we can’t take our eyes off the gorgeous photos. Sarah Jessica wore a vibrant purple hooded wrap coat from Halston Heritage’s Fall 2011 collection, and completed her look with ballerina-inspired black pumps and mysterious black shades.

Obviously, Sarah Jessica can do no wrong in our eyes, and we are totally in love with her early morning look here. In fact, we don’t even care what’s under that coat – we’re just worried about getting our freshly manicured hands on a similar one. Next fall, look for bold, saturated jewel tones like this gorgeous violet – and ditch that boring black peacoat. You’ll be super star stylish when the weather gets cool – and you just might become the style envy of your brunch group. With a piece this beautiful, who needs a man?
